The customer

The British Menopause Society (BMS) is the specialist authority for menopause and post reproductive health in the UK. Established in 1989, the BMS educates, informs and guides healthcare professionals, working in both primary and secondary care, on menopause and all aspects of post reproductive health.

Background to the project

The British Menopause Society (BMS) is the UK’s leading authority dedicated to educating and guiding healthcare professionals on all aspects of menopause and post-reproductive health.

As the Society continued to grow its influence and expand its educational and member services, it recognised that its existing technology landscape was no longer fully supporting its ambitions. Key platforms, including its CRM, digital engagement tools and learning management technologies, required review and modernisation to enable future growth and deliver a better experience for members and learners.

BMS needed an evidence-based approach to determine the best path forward, secure investment approval and establish a practical roadmap for change. GetSavi was engaged to assess requirements, evaluate technology options and help the Society build a compelling business case for transformation.

In a quick, collaborative project, GetSavi reviewed all areas of our technology needs and presented us with a clear plan for the way ahead which took into account the size of our team and resources available for a change project” – Membership and Education Programme Manager

The challenge

BMS understood that technology would play a critical role in supporting its future objectives. However, before embarking on a significant programme of change, the organisation needed clarity on which investments would deliver the greatest value and how those investments should be prioritised.

The key challenges included:

  • The need to review and potentially replace core systems, including CRM, digital engagement and learning management technologies
  • A lack of clarity regarding the optimal combination of technology and business change initiatives
  • The need to align future technology investment with strategic organisational goals
  • Establishing a realistic budget and implementation roadmap capable of securing stakeholder support
  • Identifying suitable technology partners that could support long-term ambitions and future growth
  • Building confidence among decision-makers before committing to a major transformation programme

To move forward successfully, BMS required independent expertise to evaluate options, assess organisational needs and provide a clear pathway to delivery.

Our approach

Working closely with senior stakeholders, GetSavi delivered a structured programme of discovery, analysis and strategic planning designed to provide clarity and confidence for future investment decisions.

Technology and business needs assessment

We undertook a comprehensive review of the Society’s current technology landscape, business processes and strategic objectives. This included analysing requirements across CRM, digital engagement and learning management functions to understand both current challenges and future aspirations.

Options appraisal and strategic recommendations

GetSavi evaluated a range of platform options and delivery approaches, outlining the advantages, disadvantages, investment requirements and strategic fit of each. This provided BMS with a clear understanding of the available choices and their implications.

Budget planning and business case development

We worked with stakeholders to establish realistic investment ranges and develop a robust roadmap for transformation. The resulting recommendations provided a clear justification for change and demonstrated how investment would support organisational objectives over the coming years.

Supplier identification and selection

As part of the programme, GetSavi helped identify and evaluate suitable technology partners capable of supporting the Society’s future ambitions. This process ensured that supplier recommendations were aligned with both functional requirements and strategic priorities.

Transformation roadmap

A phased roadmap was produced to guide delivery over a three-year period, helping the Society prioritise investments, manage change effectively and minimise implementation risk.

GetSavi provided educational support so we could fully assess our CRM and ecommerce technology options. This included collaborative discussions and provision of information that aligned our internal team for key decisions we were making about our technology options” – Membership and Education Programme Manager

The results

The engagement provided BMS with the strategic clarity and assurance required to proceed with confidence.

Key outcomes included:

  • Board approval for budget and investment in a strategic programme of digital transformation
  • Agreement on a clear roadmap for technology and business change
  • Defined requirements for CRM, digital engagement and learning management technologies
  • Greater confidence in future technology investment decisions
  • Identification of technology partners capable of supporting long-term organisational objectives
  • A practical plan for delivering measurable benefits over a multi-year transformation programme

Key takeaways

  • Building an evidence-based business case helps secure stakeholder and Board support for investment.
  • Evaluating technology, processes and business change together creates stronger outcomes than focusing on systems alone.
  • A structured roadmap provides clarity, reduces risk and creates momentum for long-term transformation.
  • Independent expertise can help organisations make complex investment decisions with greater confidence.

Client impact

By combining strategic analysis, technology expertise and practical planning, GetSavi helped the British Menopause Society move from uncertainty to action. The organisation secured investment approval, established a clear direction for change and created the foundations for a successful programme of digital transformation that will support healthcare professionals for years to come.
